Yes, we have taken the bull by the horns and released a new site. And it comes with a couple of extra bits.
First of all, I hope the look is a bit fresher than the last one. Though I noticed quite a few people have gotten rather attached to the green (Sorry Egal), I wanted to come up with a theme that I could create variations of easily. So this is it.
The extra bits are the Kingdoms Sections; see the left hand menu. These are for two reasons. First, they allow new visitors a way of easily getting a feel for the different peoples that make up the world of Wurm. And secondly, they give the player base a place where they can contribute articles as to what is going on in their own lands. More details about that in the forums.
Each of these sections have their own theme so just to create a bit of variation, and I will put additional stuff on those pages such as the Anthems and some nice tourist piccies - any one want to design me some 1960s style post cards? Might as well keep it fun!
The forum is also getting a makeover anytime now. If you have switched to one of the alternative templates, you may need to switch to wurmsmf2 to see the new design, which is in keeping with the overall look of the site.
So, I hope you enjoy the new design - it may be a while before I do another one! And please, People of Wurm, get me some articles to fill up your new Kingdom Sections!
And I am sure you will let me know of any bugs and spelling mistakes - as usual!

After much deliberation, three winning lyrics were chosen for the Great Wurm Anthem Competition. Now, as Wurmians settle into their homes on Jenn Kellon, the new lands of Mol Rehan, and the unpredictable lands of The Wild, music has met the lyrics and the full Anthems have now been produced.
A slightly surprised Wurm Community has seen the final mixes of the anthems released on the Forums over the past week, to generally a warm reception. The lyrics, written by players to specially commissioned orchestral works, reflect how the players see and feel about their various communities. Unlike so many other games, Wurm's communities have developed a sense of themselves, and these Anthems are just a touch of icing on the very interesting cake of Wurm!

Have you just got to Wurm for the first time? Maybe you saw our little ad in "What MMO." Well, however, you got here, welcome and thrice welcome!
Wurm is a highly addictive and fully immersive world without a set lifestyle, somewhat devoid of clichés and stuffed with a very wide range of people doing their thing in this challenging frontier world.
If you are into PvP, raiding, defending, well the Wild Server is for you (premium only). Life there is confrontaional, harsh but a lot of fun. Get experienced first on home or be prepared for a very steep learning curve!
If the only excitement you want is running for your life from a hungry bear, preferably into the safety of your own home, well the Home Worlds are for you - currently the Kingdom of Jenn Kellon. On home, PvP is banned (though the creatures ignore the rule) and instead players build villages and towns and boats and farms - not to some preset plan, but using their imagination and the very sophisticated tools the developers have given them - shovels, axes and pickaxes!
To find out more, click here, or visit our Wiki. If you want to plunge straight in, register for free here.
And maybe I will see you in Wurm? I hope so!

To the West of the unforgiving Wilds, across the mighty oceans, a land emerges, flickering and shimmering in the morning light; distant shapes and shadows, playing with the eyes as from above the waves great mountains rise to fill the skies with majesty.
This is the new world, the unexplored territory, the place of hope, of dreams, of mystery, of adventure.
Welcome to the lands of Mol Rehan.
Wurm Online has launched a brand new world; an unspoilt, untouched land of vast mountains and lakes ready for new and experienced players of this unique game. A new land is just that. There are no plans, no roads, no maps, no towns, villages, no people and no story. This is a wild place of forests, lakes, seas, mountains and surprises!

02:45 am on Luck Day, week 4 of the Bear’s Starfall. 990
A gentle murmuring of voices flowed between two campfires lit on a paved area North West of Mystery Glade. “There are not enough of us,” said one voice, tense, expectant. “More will come,” said another, his voice betraying more hope than confidence. In the north, the sky reddened slightly, as the sun yawned. I kept to the shadows. They had enough to think about without being pestered by a reporter.
Just a short walk from this huddled group laid the object of this meet. Within a slabbed entrance to a mine, legs writhed and squirmed, their owners trapped for the moment by a flimsy wooden gate. For months the spiders have been breeding here. Spider upon spider, piled high, bathing in their own foul stench, waiting for liberation, for the chance to battle their captors.

Travelling down south on the Jenn Kellon home yesterday, somewhere just out the bottom of the Great Eastern Ocean, I came across a small rowing boat being paddled furiously by a chap called Lureman. This completely unsuitable vessel for the open seas could mean but one thing - boats have arrived!
Of course, they have actually been coming in to the game in bits, with many players working on planks and pegs and masts and sails and all the things needed for everything from rowing boats, to small sailing vessels, right through to the majestic caravel.
