Author Topic: Game crashes after logging in and is extremely slow  (Read 980 times)

Well, the game is extremely slow. I can log in, i get in-game but I get 1 fps. The world is loading, I guess, and a GUI window appears - basic tips or something like that. Everything is very slow, and it takes me like 15 minutes to get this far, and I can't do anything. When I try to close the gui window (x button) the game stops working, and it thinks for like 3-4 minutes, and then crashes.

I tried to reinstall the game, I updated java, I changed the renderer - didn't help.

Wurm requires at least 1.5, and with an ATI card you should have drivers available for at least 2.0.

That is so strange. No matter what driver I install, the OpenGL extensions viewer says I have only 66% compatibility with Opengl 1.5, 86% with 1.4 and finally 100% with 1.3.

Can anyone help me with this?

What is the exact graphics adaptor you have? 9500 9600 etc etc

Where did you donwload the drivers? from ATI at ATI.AMD.COM or your laptop manufacturers site? If it was from your laptop manufacturer, try the driver from ATI, its usually only ATI's direct supplied drivers that are OpenGL2 compatible.

I have ATI mobility 9000.

The thing is the ati drivers are very old. The official site doesnt support me with drivers, it just directs me to some old drivers archive. I used omega drivers, but it didn't help. I tried modified catalyst drivers, it's the same. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, cause no matter what drivers I install, I get exactly the same compatilibity with different OpenGL versions.

Or maybe, my laptop is simply too old to play your game?

I believe so. You don't want to run demanding games off a non-brand new laptop anyway (and Wurm is quite demanding on specs).
